Pierluisi To Be Honored with Legislative Award From National Hispanic Organization

WASHINGTON, DC- The Resident Commissioner, Pedro Pierluisi, tonight will receive the 2011 National Legislative Award from the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), in recognition of his work in Congress on behalf of the Hispanic community in the United States.

Senator Richard Lugar (R-Indiana) and Texas State Representative Trey Martinez will also be honored at the event. LULAC will also give special recognition to Daniel Hernandez, the intern who came to the aid of Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords after she was shot during a town hall meeting in Tucson, Arizona.

I am honored to receive this award, and to share the occasion with individuals who have made significant contributions to the Hispanic community,” said Pierluisi.

LULAC has over 135,000 members all over the United States, including Puerto Rico.

This evening’s ceremony will take place at a hotel in the nation’s capital.
